With over 100 Adventure Cards, plus new spells, characters, and alternative endings, Talisman: The Blood Moon adds a gripping layer of gothic horror to your quest for the Crown of Command.

In addition to a host of new challenges, including a bloodthirsty Werewolf that prowls the land, time alternates between “Day” and “Night” under The Blood Moon. The new Time Card flips between its Day and Night sides to indicate the inexorable passage of time. Whenever a player draws one or more Events on his turn, he flips the Time Card, a seemingly minor change with a range of game-altering consequences. Whereas creatures are slightly weaker in the cold light of day, they grow bolder at nightfall.

What’s more, a number of new Adventure Cards have varied effects depending on the time of day; the night can usher in the Witching Hour, during which spells are more prevalent…or a thick Moon Mist can descend on the land, inhibiting safe travel until dawn.

You awaken in a cold, dark and dreary room. You know, somehow, that you’re in a sanitarium, but you don’t know why you know, or how you got here. All you want to do is escape. Dark hallways extend in all directions, and the shadows themselves seem to swirl and twist menacingly. Fear and confusion grips you, but before you succumb to insanity, a memory returns. Safe things…things that you need…things that will make you whole, and let you escape. They are what you need to find, what you must find…

Sanitarium is a card-driven horror escape game. At the start of the game, each player is dealt three (of 13) ‘Safe Things’ cards. Finding those specific items will allow escape from the Sanitarium.

The cards form the map of the winding hallways, items scattered all over. Players must explore the layout (which will differ with each play) to find items that provide them useful powers, and also their Safe Things. Dark Hallways within the Sanitarium will spawn shadows, which will in turn chase the players. Getting caught by a shadow might earn you a hallucination. Hallucinations…are bad.

The enemy of the players is time. The deck of item and event cards is the timer for the game — when it runs out, everyone still inside succumbs to their madness!

Sanitarium is fast-paced and easy to learn. It plays in 30-45 minutes. Coop, competitive, and solo scenarios are all provided.

The galaxy is at war. The Pyrious Empire is struggling to mantain power, and a few young alien races see this as a golden opportunity to expand their horizons. But who will join them in the imminent struggle to become the next galactic superpower?

In Empires of the Void, two to four players compete to expand their empire in a vast, diverse galaxy. Each time a player reaches a new planet, he must decide whether to conquer it and strip the land of its resources, or befriend the natives and obtain their special ability. With 7 starting alien races to choose from, and 15 more to conquer or befriend on a variable board, no two games will be the same.

The game uses an action point system and exciting dice-rolling combat with plenty of tactical decision making (similar to Nexus Ops). There are 19 technologies to research that break the rules and change gameplay. Players must use negotiation and trade, even when it is not their turn, which ensures that there is very little downtime. A random event deck helps build the story of the game, as each round something new happens, usually galaxy-wide. A game lasts around 2 to 3 hours and has intuitive rules which are easy to teach.

A strategic two-player abstract with a heavy deduction element. At the start of the game, neither player knows how their own pieces move. Via performing attempted moves, each player tries to deduce the movement of their own pieces. As you determine how to move your pieces, your goal is to capture the neutral piece, initially located in the center of the board, and deliver it to your opponent’s side of the board.

From the new Stronghold Games version, Confusion: Espionage and Deception in the Cold War:

The Cold War. A dangerous time for the world. A dangerous time to be a spy… but that is exactly what being a spy is all about. As the shadowy clouds of intrigue and subterfuge settle across the globe you have been called upon by your country to obtain the Top Secret information that will ensure your country’s safety and supremacy. But not all is as it seems; your spies are difficult to control on a global scale, and even worse, there’s a Double Agent in your midst who threatens the entire mission!

At the start of a game of Confusion, players aren’t aware of the talents and skills their own spies possess! Your opponent can see what your spies can do, but you cannot. Your job as a wise leader is to first deduce exactly how each of your spies move, then employ your knowledge by using each spy for maximum effect. But be on alert, because your opponent has placed a double-agent in your team of spies! The first player to take the Top Secret Briefcase from the middle of the board and deliver it to his opponent’s capital is the winner.

Can you achieve your goals at the expense of your opponent, or will the entire operation collapse in a sea of Confusion?

Confusion is game #1 in the Stronghold Games “Castle Line”.

So what’s it all about?

On Saturday, April 7, the new Citadel Paint range was unveiled to the world. An impressive 145 brand new colours, in several varieties: Base, Layer, Texture, Glaze, Shade, Dry… so many options to choose from! There’s lots of good news (including a new, thicker white formula!). The Glazes are completely new, and give your model an overall tinge or hue, while the new Texture paints are designed specifically for basing, as they have a bit of grit in them. The Dry paints are a new type of paint specifically for drybrushing. Stop by the Nexus and ask for a demonstration if you’re curious!

Speaking of, also released was the new How To Paint Citadel Miniatures book. From the newest Games Workshop hobbyist to the oldest veteran painter, everyone learned to paint somehow. For some hobbyists they were taught how to paint by a friend, parent, or staff member, others read painting books and taught themselves. Some just picked up a brush and gave it a go (and many of you probably made a mess in the process).

How to Paint Citadel Miniatures, the new Games Workshop guide to painting, is available to along with all the paints in the Citadel Paint range. For hobbyists who are new to painting Citadel miniatures, this guide is utterly invaluable – a must-have addition to your Games Workshop collection. For those of you that are pretty good painters, then this book has some great little tips and tricks to help you become better. And for those exceptional painters, the ones who paint miniatures to a standard that the rest of us can only dream of, there’s still plenty for you to look at and work with. With so many colour guides and paint schemes in the book there’s bound to be something for you to adapt to your own painting style…

WEIRD SCIENCE-FANTASY HORROR SETTING

Carcosa is a science-fantasy role-playing game setting with a sandbox approach: whether heroic or opportune, adventurers of all stripes will find freedom and consequence worth their mettle in a horrifying milieu mixing adventure fantasy, the Mythos, and comic book sci-fi with no punches pulled.

Carcosa is compatible with Lamentations Of The Flame Princess RPG and other old school fantasy adventure games. This expanded edition details 800 encounters on the 400-hex map and includes the starter adventure Fungoid Gardens of the Bone Sorcerer.

Carcosa: What Is It?

Men of 13 Races fight for life and power, ignorant of their common past.

When other tools fail, Foul Sorcery is wielded without compunction.

Enigmatic and inhuman Space Aliens have crash-landed on the world.

Psionic Warriors turn the tables on the uncaring Great Old Ones with Strange Technology from the stars and beyond time’s provenance, risking Blasphemous Madness and worse to tame the Hostile Planet and push back the darkness… for a time.

Carcosa is a weird science-fantasy horror setting compatible with traditional fantasy role-playing games. It includes:

a new character class: the Sorcerer who summons and controls Cthulhoid entities

a new form of magic, including 96 sorcerous rituals

an easy-to-use psionics system

dice conventions

dozens of new monsters

In Masters of Commerce you take on the role of a freewheeling capitalist out to outmaneuver your competitors and earn your place as a great industrialist.

Players are divided into landlords and merchants. Your goal is to earn more money than any other landlord (if you are a landlord) or more money than any other merchant (if you are a merchant) by the end of the fifth round.

Each round landlords and merchants negotiate with each other in a two minute free-for-all to set rent agreements on the landlords’ properties. Merchants then collect income from the properties they rented but not until a roll of the dice has brought changes to the value of the four colors of properties. Landlords collect rent from merchants, pay taxes on their properties, and buy new properties at auction.

At the end of the fifth round the merchant with the most money and the landlord with the most money are each declared winners, the true Masters of Commerce.
